YEAR 12/13 AMSTERDAM TRIP

(also available for students in Year 11, internal & external, who have applied to join ECS Sixth Form for September 2014)

As part of our Sixth Form enrichment programme we have made a provisional reservation for a trip to Amsterdam for our Year 12 and 13 students.  The dates are Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th September.  We will be staying in MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam City West in Amsterdam where students will share twin or multi-bedded rooms with shower and wc.  The facilities include bed and breakfast and the students will have one dinner included at a nearby restaurant.

We are planning to include the following visits and more:-

  • Tour of City
  • Van Gogh Museum
  • Ajax Stadium
  • Canal Cruise
  • Cheese Factory
  • Windmill and Tulip Farm
  • Ann Frank’s House

The trip has been considerably subsidised to allow as many students as possible access to this fantastic experience.  The cost to each student will be £99.00, including travel by coach, Eurotunnel crossing and accommodation in Amsterdam for 3 days, breakfast on both mornings, evening meal on one evening, most of the visits and activities and insurance.  We require a non- refundable deposit of £50.00 by Friday 9th May (extended date) for a place to be reserved.  We will not be able to secure places after this date.  This can be paid via your parent pay account or at a pay point shop using the barcode which we will issue to you.  Students who are in receipt of FSM will be able to access a further subsidy to the cost of the trip (please contact Ms J Williams or Ms E Halil, Sixth Form Student Managers for more information).

Once we receive the first deposit, we will inform you of the details and deadlines for the other payment.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Teenage Cancer Trust

Dear all,

The students and staff are in the final stages for their preparation for the 5k run in Pymmes Park this Saturday.

They have been training under the watchful eye of Mr McLean who has recently completed the Brighton marathon and raised over £600 alone towards our school target of £5,000!

The students had an assembly with a representative from Teenage Cancer Trust today who explained how the money raised is used to support teenagers who get cancer (a scary statistic provided was that 7 teenagers a day find out they have cancer in the UK).

Please, please, please dig deep tomorrow when you see the donation buckets, better still use the Just Giving page to leave a donation (don’t’ forget to Gift Aid it) and leave a message of support for those involved:

https://www.justgiving.com/Edmonton-County-School

Please encourage students/family/friends to do the same, we are very grateful for the kind donations already received from staff, students and friends of the school who wish to support such a worthy charity.

Many thanks in anticipation of your support,

Joanne Hamill
