Statement from Enfield Catering Services Managers on 25 February 2013
We have received the following statement from Enfield Catering Services:
Meat served in Enfield schools
I am writing to reassure you regarding school meals. All our meat suppliers have confirmed they have not purchased meat from anyone reported to have used undeclared horse, or pork meat. In addition, they will continue to monitor this using compositional analysis.
We have written confirmation from all our suppliers: William White Meats Ltd; Brakes Group and Pasta King to that effect.
These suppliers regularly test the meat and produce that is sold to council catering services. The Council follows the guidance from the Food Standards Agency.
Sampling and testing of food served in schools and council premises is a regular requirement so that we maintain high standards of nutrition, quality and hygiene.
Yours sincerely,
