Teaching and Learning

Students in Year 7 are taught in groups of approximately 27. Some subjects are taught in ability sets.

Key Stage 3

KS3 is a two year programme covering the National Curriculum subjects. Students who need targeted support (due to being more able, talented, having special educational needs or being new to the English language) are largely supported within class with some targeted withdrawal work taking place. During Year 8 students choose their GCSE subjects to begin Key Stage 4 courses in Year 9.

Key Stage 4

KS4 is a three year programme leading to GCSE and equivalent examinations. All students follow a core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Studies, Physical Education and ICT. Students then choose subjects from a range of options, some of which lead to vocational qualifications, and are encouraged to choose subject combinations that lead to the English Baccalaureate. Students are entered for two qualifications at the end of Year 9 (ICT and Science), with the majority of exams taken in Year 11. Links with local colleges of FE provide opportunities for part or full time specialist courses for pupils of all ability levels.

Sixth Form

Students who stay on in the Sixth Form are offered a wide range of courses at Level 3 including AS, A2 and BTEC Nationals as well as some one year courses at Level 1 and 2.

Students are well supported through a tutorial programme that offers them career planning and social skills development as well as considerable support for university and college applications.

A consortium system operates at Sixth Form level within Enfield and some courses are offered through this arrangement. As a result some students from other schools join courses at Edmonton County and some students from our school join Sixth Form courses in another school. [Find out more...]
