Staffing Committee

Purposes
  • To enable detailed consideration to be given to the best means of fulfilling the Governing Body’s responsibility to ensure sound management of the school’s finances and resources.
  • To make appropriate comments and recommendations to the Full Governing Body on a regular basis.
Terms of Reference
  • To consider the school’s human resources policies.
  • To consider matters reserved to the Staffing Committee in the schedule of delegated authorities.
  • To contribute to the formation of the School Plan, through the consideration of priorities relating to human resources issues, which are compatible with the stated and agreed aims of the school.
  • To interpret and implement the broad policies of the Governing Body in so far as they involve staffing matters.
  • To receive reports and proposals on the staffing of the school.
  • To liaise with and receive reports from other Committees as appropriate and to make recommendations to those Committees as appropriate.
  • To make decisions on human resources matters which need to be dealt with between meetings of the Governing Body.

Committee Groups Held as Needed

Staff Disciplinary
  • To hear cases as necessary and to weigh each case on the information presented.
  • To ensure that procedures are fair and consistent and follow the borough’s guidelines.
  • To offer two separate hearings (the initial hearing and any appeal).
  • To ensure that any governors hearing an appeal will not be involved in the first hearing of the case.
