Curriculum Committee

Purposes
  • To review the school’s curriculum statement in relation to the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • To contribute to, implement, monitor and review the school’s development plan and SEF.
  • To ensure that challenging targets are set and evaluated arising from the school’s assessment data.
  • To ensure that the school’s curriculum is broad, balanced and meets the needs of all students and reflects the specialist nature of the school.
  • To monitor, review and evaluate relevant school policies.
  • To deal with complaints against the curriculum.
  • To review public exam results.
  • To keep the Full Governing Body informed.

Finance, Premises and Health and Safety Committee

Purposes
  • To enable detailed consideration to be given to the best means of fulfilling the Governing Body’s responsibility to ensure sound management of the school’s finances and resources.
  • To ensure that the school’s premises and grounds are maintained, developed and improved.
  • To ensure that proper planning, monitoring and probity is observed.
  • To keep the Full Governing Body informed.
Terms of Reference
  • To consider the school’s annual budget and to assess its implications for the school in advance of the year involved.
  • To consider any planned expenditure if this would exceed £50,000. Day to day expenditure below this figure to be delegated to the Headteacher.
  • To contribute to the formation of the School Development Plan, through the consideration of priorities and proposals compatible with the stated aims and objectives of the school which relate to finance and to the use and development of premises and grounds.
  • To interpret and implement the broad policies of the Governing Body in so far as they involve financial matters and matters relating to the premises and grounds.
  • To receive reports and proposals on the financial and resource needs of the school, as well as requests for specific items of expenditure, and on the Premises needs of the school and on its upkeep and maintenance, setting priorities for action. Also to monitor the progress of expenditure during the year and to report this to the Governing Body as appropriate.
  • To liaise with and receive reports from other Committees as appropriate and to make recommendations to those Committees as appropriate.
  • To make decisions on financial matters which need to be dealt with between meetings of the Governing Body.
  • To monitor the development and implementation of the school’s Health and Safety Policy and to ensure that such requirements form part of all consideration of matters incorporated into developments planned for the school.
