School > Faculties > Information, Advice & Guidance
The Work Related Learning Department covers three main areas: Careers, Work Experience & College Courses.
Careers
There is a programme of Careers Education throughout the school, with students learning about different aspects of the world of work and possible future careers at different stages of their education. They also have access to a trained careers adviser who works within the school and to careers programs and websites on the school computer system.
Work Experience
All students complete two week’s work experience in the spring term of Year 10. They have the opportunity to find their own placement or to choose from a range of placements offered through the borough work experience scheme. Students find this a very valuable first experience of the world of work.
College Courses
Some students choose to study for vocational qualifications at local colleges during Years 10 & 11, usually spending half a day or sometimes a whole day each week at the college. A range of choices is available through the school’s options process.
