English

The department, which includes the Media Department, is committed to raising achievement, helping all of our students achieve their full potential.

History

The History Department's aim is to provide an environment where the learning of history can take place in a safe and positive way. We develop and improve the students skills in analysing, questioning, extended writing and use of historical evidence.

Maths

Maths is taught by a well qualified, dedicated team of teachers in specialised rooms. We build upon the work covered by pupils at primary schools using the National Numeracy Strategy, and encourage pupil thinking through extended pieces of work often involving functional skills.

Science

We teach pupils how to be scientists by developing thinking and practical skills. All pupils study to GCSE level and AS/A2 sciences are popular.

Drama

Drama aim to develop social skills as well as an understanding of drama as an art form. We offer GCSE.,BTEC, AS and A2 courses and opportunities for students to develop skills and knowledge through involvement in extra curricular activities.

Music

The Music Department at Edmonton strives to provide students with a wide understanding and appreciation of musical styles and cultures so pupils may form their own choices and opinions if the music they listen to.

Health & Social

The Health and Social Care Department includes the teaching of BTEC and A Level courses. We are committed to develop students understanding of practical and work related situations in the health and social care field.

EMAG

The aim of the Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant team is to support the achievement of ethnic minority pupils by working with pupils and teachers developing learning and teaching strategies enhancing their achievement.

ICT

We would like all students to enjoy their ICT experience at Edmonton. We want everyone to develop ICT skills whilst gaining transferable skills that are relevant to their own lives.

Business Studies

The Business Studies department offers a range of courses from KS3 to KS5. We deliver GCSE, vocational and A level Business Studies, Economics and Accounting.

Geography

The Geography Department is a strong and successful department in which a variety of teaching methods are used to enable active learning.

Religious Studies

The department is committed to raising achievement of all our pupils and giving them full scope to achieve their full potential whilst making the most of the talents of our multicultural intake.

Technology

In Design Technology we aim to give pupils an understanding of the design process and philosophy. This equips them with many skills and attributes that they can use in every day life and across other subject areas.

Languages

At ECS our aim is to make the study of language a stimulating experience with challenging and enjoyable activities, in which the students can fully develop their language and communication skills according to their potential.

Social Sciences

Social Sciences include Psychology, the study of human behaviour and Sociology, the study of society and its structures. Students can choose to pursue an A level in both and from 2009 the new Sociology GCSE will be available.

Art

Students study a range of artistic media. They attend art clubs, workshops and galleries. The department embraces modern art based on strong drawing skills.

Media

Media Studies involves the close analysis of the images, sounds and text that we experience via the Media. In Media we aim to we aim to develop students� understanding of how the Media works.

PE

The PE department is committed to providing all students with the opportunity to develop their skills in a range of structured and enjoyable activities.

PSHCE

The department is made up of two subjects, Citizenship and PSHE. Citizenship concerns raising students understanding of social issues and Personal, Social and Health Education deals with issues young people face.

Inclusion

Inclusion aims to support the needs of any learner who is referred for additional support because of their emotional and behavioural difficulties, learning differences, English language development or more able and talented needs.

WRL

The Work Related Learning Department covers three main areas: Careers, Work Experience & College Courses.
