This exhibition is open to anyone to come and have a look at the fantasitc pieces of GCSE Art work.

The GCSE exhibition is all the coursework and exam work from our year GCSE students on the 23rd June in the art rooms at upper site from 4-6 with refreshments provided.

Our AS and A2 students have been working hard on work and have an exhibition of some of their best pieces from Art, Photography and Textiles.

Caught In The Web

Edmonton County is committed to helping students with regards to eSafety and would like to share the following.

Taken from BBC Newsround wesbite:

Newsround has put together a special programme all about staying safe on the internet.

Called Caught in the Web, it tells the story of a girl who gets into trouble after her virtual life in an online chatroom spills into the real world.

There are also real-life case studies with kids who've had bad experiences online, like a girl who was cyber bullied and a boy addicted to gaming.

The programme is narrated by former Doctor Who star David Tennant.

04-02-10:  Inventor of the Year Competition

Ideal Home - Inventor of the Year Competition

The Ideal Home Show, home of some of the most iconic product launches of its time, are once again looking for the ultimate domestic invention for the home, to be entered into this year's competition.

Entries can relate to any aspect of the home at all, from a kitchen tool, high-tech home entertainment gadget, a piece of future thinking furniture, or even your take on the latest robotic pet, whatever your idea, we want to see it!

Ten lucky finalists will go into a shortlist, and be whittled down to a final three designs. The winning product design will be created into a prototype, and unveiled at this year's Ideal Home Show, which takes place at Earl's Court in London between March 20th and April 5th 2010.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for people to see their innovative concepts brought to life, and unveiled in front of key industry insiders and thousands of visiting public." said organiser Lee Newton.

The entries need to show the name of the product, drawn in 2- d or 3-d and any relevant annotation.

All entries are to be handed into Mr. Biswas. The deadline is Friday 12th Feb. Please ensure all entries have the students name and form. Any students who are interested please see me a.s.a.p.

Extended Telephone Support For Parents

Parents and carers struggling with family problems often need extra support. To meet that need, Parentline Plus offers an extended telephone support service (ETS). Calls are free, confidential and can be about any parenting issue, large or small - from children's sleeping problems and family rows through to violent behaviour, alcohol, drugs and gangs.

HPV Vaccination Programme for 2009-2010

The school will be making provision for any student who has missed the HPV vaccine. There is no need to contact your GP. To make use of this service, please contact the school nurse on 020 8344 3154/3142.

For your information, the second phase of vaccines are scheduled to take place on the following dates:

05-11-09:  ECS Introduces Boxing Club

Boxing Club

Start Date: 10th November 2009
Course Duration: 10 weeks (initial course)
Day: Every Tuesday (term time only)
Time: 3 pm - 4 pm
Cost: £10:00 per 10 weeks
Where: Upper site - Gym

You should wear your PE kit or tracksuit and trainers. All other equipment will be supplied.

There are a limited number of places available and will be offered on a first come first served basis so please return booking form to your Assistant Head of Learning or the Upper Site Office as soon as possible.

We hope to be able to extend the course if it proves to be successful.

Jeans for Genes

On Friday 2nd October 2009 the school will be supporting the charity Jeans for Genes. During the next two weeks students will also be discussing issues surrounding gene research in assemblies and in tutor time.

Coffee Morning 25th Sept

You may be aware that Friday 25th September 2009 is the national Big Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer.

Edmonton County School will be participating in the Big Coffee Morning and would like to invite you all to take part.

The event is open to parents of all students in the school and will be based at the Lower Site in the Library.

Please feel free to drop in between 8.30 am and 9.30am, have coffee and cake and make a donation to Macmillan Cancer. Entry will be via the main entrance by reception.

The event will be hosted by our students and is intended to be an informal opportunity for members of our community to meet and get together.

09-09-09:  Family Support / Extended Schools

Family Support Worker

Carol Riley is our new Family Support Worker and is going to be supporting parents in supporting their children. She will be sending out information about what she can do to support parents and carers as well as starting a number of initiatives across the school.

Extended Schools and Community Worker

Lisa Bullen is our new extended school and community worker. She will be organising our extra curricular program for students, parents, staff and outside users. She will be working with the wider community to ensure that ECS is a hub for community use.

For the Year 7, 8 and 9 that are accepted onto the trip:

We're leaving the Lower School at 8:30 am and arriving back at 6:00pm, please collect your child promptly.

Pupils don't need to wear uniform but comfortable clothing which may get wet (bring change of clothes) and need to bring packed lunch or be provided with spending money

Please don't bring electronic equipment which may get wet - we accept no responsibility
