Key Stage Five Overview

Within year 12 and 13 students have the option to study the L3 BTEC National Extended Certificate or the National Diploma in Business.

Within The Extended Certificate students will study the following:

Unit 1 – Exploring Business (Coursework) – Explore the features of different businesses and analyse what makes them successful.  

Unit 3 – Personal and Business Finance (External Exam) – Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of business and personal finance principles, concepts, key terms, functions, and theories.

Unit 2 – Developing a Marketing Campaign (Controlled Assessment) – Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of marketing principles, concepts, processes, key terms, data sources and definitions.  

Unit 8 – Recruitment and Selection Process – Coursework – Examine how effective recruitment and selection contribute to business success.  

Within the Diploma students will also study the following extra units:

 

Unit 4 – Managing an Event – Learners will work as part of a small group to plan, coordinate, and manage a business or social enterprise event and evaluate the skills gained.

Unit 5 – International Business – Learners study how UK businesses develop strategies to trade globally. Learners will also consider the factors that influence the implementation of these strategies.

Unit 6 – Principles of Management – This unit enables learners to understand how the role of management and leadership in the workplace contributes towards business success.

Unit 18 – Creative Promotion – Learners study how creative promotion influences the buying decisions of customers, stimulates demand, creates brand personality, and promotes products and services.
