Key Stage Three Overview

Within Year 8 students study Food once a week, where they follow a SOW to learn cooking and nutrition.  They have practical and theory lessons. Within the theory they study:  Health & safety, Names and uses of equipment, Uses of the Cooker and the Microwave, Nutrition: Eat Well Guide, Nutrition: Functions of Nutrients, Food Poisoning- temperature Zones. Within practical they will cook: a variety of vegetable dishes including Salad, Soup and Burgers. Pizza Toast, Fish Goujons, Rice Dishes, Fruit Muffins and Koftas
