Welcome to Sixth Form

WHY CHOOSE EDMONTON COUNTY SIXTH FORM?

Our Sixth Form aims to enable all of our students to secure what they need to pursue their chosen goals. Sixth Form education is a stepping-stone to a variety of future possibilities from Further and Higher Education to training and ultimately employment. To that end we aim to be a truly inclusive Sixth Form which provides guidance and courses suited to the individual learning needs and future plans for each student, and create an environment in which all our students feel valued, happy and able to develop. Support is provided for the personal and social development of each Sixth Former, so that they may acquire the skills and qualities of leadership, tolerance, initiative, responsibility and self-determination. We offer experience of a wide range of activities ‒ academic, social, spiritual, aesthetic, practical and sporting; to challenge our students to think seriously about their future after the Sixth Form and to give them the best information, advice and guidance available to develop and realise those plans.

A student’s time in the Sixth Form is voluntary. Students choose to return and further their education because they wish to. Our underlying aim, therefore, is to make that time as challenging, rewarding, stimulating and as fun as possible. Academic work forms the core of our Sixth Form provision but we place equal emphasis on providing opportunities for the development of the whole individual. Our Sixth Formers are young adults and can expect to be treated accordingly. Thank you for taking the time to consider Edmonton County School Sixth Form for one of the most important stages in your life. We hope that you are able to find the information that you need in our prospectus and at our Open Evening to see how we can make the difference to your future education and life goals.
