KS3 | Music

Head of Department:

Miss C Marshall

Overview

Our Aim at KS3 is to introduce our students to a wide range of musical styles and traditions, and to explore a variety of instruments. We aim to build on any musical experience gained at home and in Primary school to deepen our students’ enjoyment of Music. Students will have one hour of music per week, during which time we cover music history, practical music skills (performance and composition) and music theory. Topics covered include Blues and Jazz, Reggae, Ukulele, Instruments of the Orchestra, Pop, Film Music and much more! With a wide range of topics covered and opportunities to play a wide range of instruments, there will be something for everybody to enjoy in Music at Edmonton County School.

Music helps many KS3 students with their confidence and creativity as well as their independence and collaboration. Students are also highly encouraged to join choir and other ensembles, which is an excellent way for KS3 students to meet their peers and develop as young musicians. Students who are particularly involved with the department also have the opportunity to be appointed Music Ambassadors for Edmonton County School.
