ESCAPE: A Problem Solving Approach - Facilitated by the Parent Support Service
Would you like to meet other parents who want to develop their parenting skills? If so this is for you… What does it involve? The programme runs for 12 weeks. Each session lasts for 2 hrs. The problem solving approach gives parents a 6-point plan to approach the difficulties the young person may present. We help you to identify and recognize trigger points and show you how to avoid arguments and difficult situations.
The aim of this programme:
- To help parents improve the way they communicate with their young people, winning their cooperation and maintaining control within the family.
- We can help you develop and set clear boundaries around acceptable and unacceptable behavior that suits you and your family.
- We can help you to explore and identify strategies for dealing with difficult behavior and help you to regain control and influence your young persons views.
- Its important to try out ideas to find out what does work for you as a parent.
- To help parents not just in coping with teenagers but in helping them with the pressures they are facing.

Extended Telephone Support

Parents and carers struggling with family problems often need extra support. To meet that need, FamilyLives (previously Parentline Plus) offers an extended telephone support service (ETS).
Calls are free, confidential and can be about any parenting issue, large or small – from children’s sleeping problems and family rows through to violent behaviour, alcohol, drugs and gangs.
You can download various leaflets from FamilyLives for more information.
