Open Evening
On November 23rd 2017 ECS Sixth Form Team opened our doors to the community for the Sixth Form Open Evening. This was a great opportunity for us to show the local community our record breaking results from the Summer and celebrate the success of the students who left us. We had a brilliant turn out of students from Year 11, not only from ECS but also from neighbouring schools who attended with their parents. There was a keen interest in the career pathways for the students in our community. We were happy to deliver the structure and vision of our Sixth Form and teachers were able to interact with students and parents in more detail about Level 3 courses. Thank you for all the applications we have received to our Sixth Form, the Sixth Form team are now processing applications for interviews to start next term.

Year 13 2016/2017

We would like to applaud last academic years students for all their hard work and success. The table in the PDF below represents where they are now and the bright futures they have ahead of them.

31% of students are attending Science based courses and notable Ali Sahin achieving a place to study Medicine at the University College London, Maryna Volyshna and Ethan Jones achieving places at Imperial College to study Physics, Jessie Montague achieving a place at Nottingham to study Psychology and Matthew Dawkins achieving a Drama Scholarship.

Academic Review Day

Our first ARD was on 21st September for both Year 12s and 13s. Students attended school from 1:30pm to 7:30pm. Year 12s got a chance to meet with their Form Tutors on a one to one basis getting to know each other better and understanding the career aspects for each student. Students went through their folders with their Form Tutors created targets for the up and coming weeks. The overall attendance for Year 12 students was 95% Well done Year 12! Our Year 13s were able to meet with their new Form Tutors on a one to one basis and go through the grades they achieved last year. They were able to discuss the universities and course they had in mind for the next academic year. The tutors were able to use this information to help guide their tutees of the best possible options for them. The overall attendance for Year 13 students was 99.2% Well done Year 13!

Safe Drive Stay Alive

On Thursday October 19th we took Year 12 students to the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton to the Safe Drive Stay Alive Production. Safe Drive Stay Alive is produced by a road safety partnership including Enfield Local Authority, Police, local councils and emergency services. Each partner has been working for years to reduce the number of young people dying on the roads. They delivered their production in an interactive but very serious way through real life stories of professions of the emergency services and victims of accidents which engaged all our Year 12 students. We went to this production with another local Enfield school and had a competition against them asking 3 driving related questions. Anwar Omar represented ECS and answered all 3 questions correctly which meant we beat the opposing school.

Enrichment Day 1

On Wednesday 1st November our Year 12 students went to Westminster on a treasure hunt. They were in groups of 8-10 students and had a set amount of pictures to take at certain locations. The group with the most points won the treasure hunt. It was a long eventful day and all our students participated and got to enjoy the many sites in London. Well done to Mr Mungovan and his group, Group 3 as they came first in the competition.

Whilst our Year 12s were hunting around in London our Year 13 students went to Tolmers activity centre were they had range of activities. They played archery, practiced rock climbing and enjoyed many more activities . All students had an eventful day and were happy to go again.

Art Students

Year 12 Students have been working really hard during their Independent Study sessions and their art lessons to create their masterpiece. They have been working on a flesh project and coming up with many creative ideas. Both Year 12 and year 13 went on an Art trip learnt how to do still life drawings of a woman and they learnt different techniques which they can now apply in their own work. All students fully enjoyed their day out learning and gaining new experiences.

Some of our students got creative with their flesh work for us to display.

Dear Year 11 parents

The 6th Form team would like to give a huge thanks to all those that took time out of their busy schedules to attend our 6th Form Open Evening.

All those that attended were able to have quality conversations with subject leaders and student Lead Learners regarding subject selections.

Everyone received a 6th Form bag which contained tools for revision and exam success (highlighter pens, flashcards, ruler, pen, post it notes) as well as our new 6th Form prospectus and application form.

The highlight for me was listening to four of our Year 13 students explaining why attending our 6th Form is the right choice. Hearing their testimonies confirmed what I and all involved in the 6th Form already know: Edmonton County provides everything needed to be successful and prepare for the next stage in lifelong learning, be it at work or further education. Being in the top 10% of UK 6th Form providers based on last year’s results is further evidence.

If anyone would like further information, do not hesitate to contact myself or any other member of the 6th Form team at both campuses.

Celebrating achievement in Year 13

Year 13 Form Tutors were asked to nominate their best tutor members from the autumn term. These students have contributed to tutor time discussions, brought a positive attitude and fostered community success. The nominated students pictured below are; Jonathan Atkinson, Geno Matic, Kerem Erozkal, Renald Alla, Gullu Tasar, Ali Sahin, Thomas Murtagh, Stephen Reid, Taylor Fairbank, Zana Rafiq, Vithusan Sivasanmugasarama.

The Sixth Form team are very proud of our student’s academic successes but we also acknowledge that being part of a successful school community takes leadership, resilience, consistent effort and good manners. The tutees of the term have demonstrated these attributes throughout the autumn term.

Well Done!
