KS4 | Mathematics

At Edmonton County School Key Stage 4 Mathematics is taught over three years. There is a gradual build-up of content in the first two years which rely significantly on prior knowledge from key stage 3. In year 11 there is a strong focus on developing exam techniques and revision skills to support students in becoming exam ready. Students continue to be grouped in accordance with current progress and attainment throughout key stage 4– appropriate movement between groups continues until year 11 to support all students to achieve their potential.

Overview

We give students the opportunity to develop the ability to:

  • Acquire and use problem-solving strategies
  • Select and apply mathematical techniques and methods in mathematical, every day and real-world situations
  • Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions
  • Interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context
