Brilliant Club Success!

Congratulations to the students who completed the Brilliant Club Programme!

Students successes were outstanding with special commendations to Ellen Joannou and Helin Kaya who both achieved a 1st.

Throughout the last school year, 22 students in Year 10 completed The Brilliant Club, an award winning charity that exists to widen access to highly-selective universities for pupils from under-represented groups.

To celebrate their hard work and achievement, the students were invited to take part in a Graduation Ceremony.

The Brilliant Club Graduation took place at the prestigious London School of Economics on 15th May 2019. Parents and students were escorted by Mrs Uddin and Miss McKenzie-Ward and travelled by coach from the Cambridge campus.

The event was well attended both by students and their parents. All 22 students graduated with excellent passes – 2 students achieving a 1st class degree!

The students were taken on a tour of the college with a current student and took part in workshops offering guidance on university life, courses and applications as well as study skills.

Parents were extremely proud to see their children receive their graduation certificates, and thanked Edmonton County school for being able to witness the graduation, and for the fantastic opportunity for the students by the school and the Brilliant Club.

The evening started with welcome drinks for all, followed by a welcome presentation for parents and students. Students were then whisked away by current LSE students to have group sessions. Parents were then given a presentation in the lecture theatre on “facts and myths” about University life and studies in general. Parents found this very informative, with many parents taking photos of facts/links from the PowerPoint presentation.
