Key Stage Three Overview

Within Year 8 students study Food once a week, where they follow a SOW to learn cooking and nutrition.  They have practical and theory lessons. Within the practical they study:  Health & safety, Names and uses of equipment, Uses of the Cooker and the Microwave, Fruits Around the World, Nutrition: Eat Well Guide, Nutrition: Functions of Nutrients, Food Poisoning- temperature Zones. Within the practical they will cook: Fruit Salad/Smoothie, Club Sandwich, Couscous Salad, Healthy Pizza, Apple Crumble, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Healthy Snack Bar, Pasta Salad, Vegetable Stir Fry Noodles, Oreo/Choc.
