Secondary News 22nd May 2020

A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope, more than ever, that this newsletter finds you and your family well. We have heard terrible stories of families taken ill with corona virus. Some of our staff have been very unwell but thankfully, all have made a recovery; however, some loved ones have sadly passed. When school resumes again, we will all be changed by what has happened. The school has, of course, been open over the past 8 weeks and I would like to thank the team of staff who have been providing an educational experience for those children who have attended daily. This has been to support those children who find learning particularly difficult and those whose parents are key workers.

We are at an advanced stage in planning to re-open the Primary school to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children on 1 June 2020. We hope that by July all primary children will be attending school for at least part of the week. We know that this is a very difficult time for parents and staff; coming out of ‘lockdown’ is something we all want and know has to happen but finding the ‘new normal’ is truly difficult. There are no easy answers to these difficult questions.

From 1 June 2020, we will be starting a weekly phone call system to secondary pupils and from 15 June 2020 we will be planning for year 10 students to attend school for part of the week. Year 12 will continue with their Zoom lessons for the next period. We hope that the blend of phone contact and face-to-face meetings will help all of our students get ready to resume study in the school setting. I hope that you and your family will enjoy the next few days and look forward to resuming school on 1 June 2020.
